*So I know once again its been quite a while since we’ve put up a new post, but life has just gotten the best of us. Our apologies to our followers…
But during our absence from the blog, we have been very busy bees, working with the lovely people at Art in the Age, The Philadelphia Science Festival and The Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild on an educational art project. Our good friend, Dan Abraham, of Art in the Age, approached us with the project a few weeks earlier, each artist was given a different type of bee box to paint whatever they would like. The idea was to bring a little light onto the good work of the Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild and to educate people on the importance of bees. Nick and I got to work on the box together, which was an interesting and new process for us. I painted the sky and the guy mostly, and Nick painted the land and the bees.
We got a chance to show our box at The Philadelphia Science Festival on Logan Circle, which was a big hit. I think our beard of bees got a few people talking and lots of laughs ^_^.
And last Thursday, Art in the Age had a lovely artists reception for us, in their store in old city. Below are some pictures from the event…

It was a really great night, everyone did a wonderful job. Thanks again to Art in the Age and the Philadelphia Beekeepers Guild!
*So I know, once again, I have been slacking on the posts, but we have both had a lot going on! At my work we are gearing up for a big trade show in NYC. And Nick has been helping to open a new Whole Foods Market down in Glen Mills! Oh right, and I turned 28 ^_^.
For any of you who don’t know my birthday is on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) which always makes it very difficult to make any fun birthday plans, but this year we made it happen!

First Nick came home from work with the biggest bouquet of flowers that I have ever seen! And I ended up having to make three smaller arrangements out of them, as I ran out of room in my vases for more flowers ^_^.
Later that night we met up with our good friends Brittany, Manny, Erin, Laura and Jon for an amazing birthday dinner at Terrain (one of my all time, favorite restaurants/ garden store… I’ll have to make another trip down there sometime soon, for a post on just how beautiful it is!)

Brittany gave me this beautiful jadeite candle stick holder that I am currently using as a jewelry dish, I just love it!!

Then the following day, Nick and I headed down to Delaware for a big tax free treat! A brand new, amazing 27” Imac, that I am totally in love with! Thank you to Nick and all my family for the mac store gift cards, it was such a huge help for this big purchase.
*Well spring has sprung and just about everything we planted in the hoop house is growing! Here are a few update pictures to show you how they are coming along…

Nick can’t wait for the fresh veggies and herbs to be ready for the pickin and cookin!
*Last week I spent my sunday at the Philadelphia International Flower Show, collecting beautiful images of floral displays, rare orchids, and (my favorites) terrariums and succulents. I also took home a few air plants for myself and found a very unique way to use them in my house.
But first enjoy all the beautiful plants…

There were so many orchids it was a bit overwhelming, each one was so unique and beautiful!

That’s an entire wall of lettuce!

I loved this itty bitty flower, I think I felt that I could relate to it ^_^

Terrariums… love em

There was a bonsai tree there that was over 80 years old…
*Now onto the project. So I brought these beautiful air plants home from the flower show and after being inspired by all of the amazing displays, I felt they deserved a unique home.
Once again I set off to the Philadelphia Indoor Flea Market (it never fails me) and I found these two antique wooden wire stretchers. Originally used by furniture makers to get the right tension on their springs and wires, I thought they would make perfect little floating frames to have my air plants grow out of, while staying true to our rustic, industrial aesthetic.

I also purchased these white ceramic hanging pods, from Ikea, to house the rest of my plants and finish out the vinyet. I think they look great and help to bounce around the white elements in our room more evenly. The glass orb was purchased at the flower show, which I highly recommend everyone check out next year.
